MR Engine Camshaft Information

We got confirmation that the camshafts in the MRA8DE, the MR16DDT, the MR18DE, and the MR20DD all use the same overlap, lift, and durations. They are not the same part number, but by having an MR16DDT cam and MRA8DE cam measured by a cam company and confirming they use the same profile, then looking at the Nissan specs for the other two engines, we can say with a decent amount of certainty that they all use the same. Based off this, you could guess that all the MR engines use the same profile, which would make sense, but we cannot get access to the repair data for the MR18DDT, and other euro only MR engines to confirm this.

Stock cams use the following profile:

  • Intake Duration: 240 degrees

  • Exhaust Duration: 244 degrees

  • Lobe Separation Angle (LSA): 114 degrees

  • Intake Lift: 0.370 inches

  • Exhaust Lift: 0.310 inches

According to the cam company: This is a fairly generic, general use, profile. Great for low end torque, and flow sufficient enough for the size turbos used on these engines from the factory.
